Actually, it's one of the few books the two of them have worked on that I haven't got/read, and I think it was their first together.

I may have to root it out.

As an additional spoiler, the big red alien we see during the post-credits sequence is Thanos. A character originally from Titan and introduced to the Marvel universe in The Invincible Iron Man #55.

I'm not sure if you guys have done it before, but have you ever reviewed Kingdom of the Wicked? It's by far one of my favourite books and it's the Edginton & D'israeli combo. The story kept me guessing throughout and is increadibly dark and the art is just homemade lasagna.

I've had a subscription for the collection & oddly enough my Hulk book hasn't turned up yet either, even though the issue after it is now in shops (which is annoying because the Hulk volume is one of the titles I'm most eager to get my hands on). Hachette did send me a letter though apologising for not having enough stock of certain items so, fingers crossed, it may be that the Hulk story will appear later on.

Oddly enough shortly after the Dark Phoenix volume was released, Marvel re-released the same issues in paperback without the back matter at the buy it now price of £18.99.

I also own a fair few of the volumes already but mostly as single issues so I don't mind having the hardback duplicates. Those I do own as trades are paperback editions which I'll be more than happy to pass on to younger family members later on if they show an inclanation towardssuch things.

I've been keeping a keen eye out for these collections but alas the distribution around here in the sunny south-east of Ireland is patchy. That said so far I already have everything that's been printed. In fact reading the list there are only four stories I think I don't have.

I bought the Dark Phoenix edition as I have those issues in the black and white Essential X-Men volume and since then I've been looking for the Peter David Hulk collection but I suspect that's been and gone.

Overall it's a good idea, the books are nicely put together and if my comic collection wasn't quite as chunky I'd be getting a heck of a lot more of them.

Near Death is a great comic, so always glad to talk about it!

Thanks for clarifying that point about Ringer, sir. I've probably got myself confused because you're the only person on the production that I follow on Twitter. I should clarify that for all I rag on it, Ringer is on the must-watch pile in our house - I draw a comparison between it and 24 because they both satisfy similar immediate-pleasure-requirements, sacrificing just enough plausibility in the name of suspense and surprises.

(And whatever I say about SMG, she's a good actress to wrap all of this intrigue around. We did just watch Buffy again so it's comforting to see her on the small screen, and she's very likeable as Bridget.)
